There are eight dentists at the practice, Andy Moran, Julia Horton, Emma Skipper, Ronnie Aitchison, Lucy Denton, Junaid Khan, Katie McCarthy and Anca Jarmany. In addition there is Janet Madders and Lisa Robertson our dental therapists and hygienists Helen Gill and Mandy Watson.
Andy Moran has lived and worked in Scarborough since 1992. He established Peasholm Dental Practice in 2009 and has worked to improve and expand it since. Andy has worked in the maxillofacial Dept at Scarborough Hospital since 1994 carrying out treatments such as the extraction or roots and wisdom teeth. In 2002 he gained a postgraduate degree in Clinical Dentistry from Kings, London. Andy is highly experienced and has been working with newly qualified dentists in their immediate post qualifying year since 2009.
Ronnie has been with the practice since June 2010 but has worked in Scarborough all his working life. Ronnie has a particular interest in orthodontic treatment and has been a practitioner in orthodontics at Scarborough Hospital from 1985 - 2010. Ronnie now takes orthodontic referrals from other practices within the Scarborough area, and works closely with the orthodontic consultants at the hospital.
Emma joined the practice in August 2012. Following a very successfull two year Foundation Training placement Emma progressed to become an Associate and then on to Partner Dentist at Peasholm Dental Practice. Her caring and professssional manner was a welcome addition to our dental team. Emma has a mixed Private and Denplan list, but treats children on the NHS. Emma volunteers for a dental charity Bridge to Aid Charity where she travels out to Tanzania to provide dental treatment and training to the poorest and most rural communities within the region. She has an interest in Oral Surgery and Community Dentistry, working within the Maxillofacial Department at Scarborough General Hospital assisting in new patient clinics and treats patients with special education and medical needs at Orchard Park Community Centre in Hull.
Emma has completed further training in the fields of Concious Sedation and Facial Rejuvenation, and is able to offer these treatments alone or in combination with general dental treatment.
Katie graduated from University College Cork, Ireland, in 2011 and has lived in the UK since. She moved to the York area to work as a Senior House Officer in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, at York Hospital and soon fell in love with Yorkshire!
She has completed the Diploma of Membership of Faculty of Dental Surgery, at the Royal College of Surgeons, Glasgow and is now undertaking a further postgraduate qualification in Conscious Sedation at the University of Newcastle. She has also completed further training to be able to provide safe and effective Facial Rejuvenation treatments.
Outside of work, she volunteers as part of a befriending programme at a local care home and has now become a keen runner and often training for half marathons.
Julia joined the practice in January 2011 along with Mary Aitchison. She has over 25 years experience in general practice, the last 20 of which were spent with Mary running a very busy and popular practice in Falsgrave Road. She enjoys all aspects of family dentistry and particularly working with children. She has a private/Denplan adult list but continues to see children on the NHS.
Lucy joined the practice in 2010 and has worked in and around the Scarborough area since 2003. She is interested in all aspects of dentistry. Lucy has a family based NHS list and enjoys treating patients of all ages. She supervises newly qualified dentists within the practice and has done so since 2012.
Junaid is a graduate of the University of Manchester and joined our practice in 2012, he has a mixed Private and Denplan list. Junaid enjoys working with nervous and dental phobic patients, helping them overcome their fears of dental treatment.
Junaid provides all aspects of aesthetic dentistry and to further his goal in this field he has completed training to become an Invisalign treatment provider. This involves straightening of the teeth and is available to patients of any age.
Anca qualified as a dentist in 2005 in Romania. She moved to the U.K. in 2009 and worked in Cumbria,treating both private and NHS patients. Anca relocated to Scarborough due to her husband's work commitments and has treated patients inaround this area since 2012. Anca finds her work as a dentist very fulfilling and she is tirelessly looking to develop her career.
Anca is the happy mother of 3 children and she loves to spend her free time with them.
In addition we have the services of a Dental Therapist, Janet Madders(GDC : 10541) who qualified from Newcross in 1974. She has over 40 years of experience treating patients and is a great asset to the practice and local community.
